Malik Denu (ACCA, CA)
Malik is a Partner of S&D Chartered Accountants. He is a Chartered Accountant with over ten years of experience in various environments related to the accounting practice and industry. Years of practice has culminated in rich experience in Accounting and Finance, Audit as well as Tax in the Ghanaian setting.
Innovation, efficiency, effectiveness and smart working are tools he believes helps propel him deliver best results throughout his working life.
He is a member in good standing with Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) as well as the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) – UK.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana Legon in Accounting and Economics.
After leaving the University of Ghana in 2007, he trained with Ayew Agyeman Turkson and Co, one of the oldest local audit firms in Ghana. There he was thrown into the world of audit and gained valuable skills by working on various jobs within several industries including financial services, insurance, FMCG as well as NGOs.
He later joined Douglas Godwinson World now UHY Godwinson as Audit team Lead to continue on his journey in the audit world. He worked on several audit jobs as well as training younger professionals within the field.
Also had the chance to work on several tax audits commissioned by the government in the financial services sector. He also during this time helped in setting up accounting systems and as well as Internal control processes for various clients.
He went into Industry by first working in financial services and brokerage industry with IC Securities Ghana limited as an accountant. There he was involved in the routine accountancy tasks as well as putting in place several internal controls. He left that sector on joined the oil and gas sector where he also gained a lot of valuable experience. He also worked with Maersk Drilling Ghana Limited as a Senior Accountant.
At Maersk, he was the main anchor between the company and all consultants as well as overseeing all audits be it statutory or otherwise. He dealt with Compliance and regulatory issues on behalf of Maersk as well as heading Accounts Receivable and General Ledger.
His areas of expertise include but not limited to:
► Audit – Client statutory audits as well as other review engagements
► Tax – Client Tax planning, Compliance with various direct and Indirect Taxes as well as assisting Clients with Tax audits.
► Financial reporting in compliance with IFRSs and other GAAPS.
► Hyperion financial management and Onestream
► Identifying and managing business risks in key processes
► Restructuring business operations to improve performance
► Assessing the design and operating effectiveness of business processes and controls as well as setting up Accounting systems and Controls for new entities.
► Ability to work with various software, PCAS, Sage, IFS, QuickBooks, Tally etc.
